Acuren Inspection is currently looking for a Welder to support our Elgin, IL operations.

Responsibilities

  • Read blueprints/drawings and weld symbols and take or read measurements to plan layout and welding procedures
  • Utilize the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements
  • Set up components for welding according to specifications.
  • Operate straight and angle grinders to prepare the parts for welding
  • Align components using calipers, rulers etc. and clamp pieces
  • Repair castings and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps
  • Test and inspect welding profiles and structure to find and correct flaws
  • Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety

Requirements

  • Welding school/program graduate and/or 5 years of work experience
  • General mechanical capabilities
  • Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures (TIG, MIG welding, etc.)
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents, drawings, and weld symbols
  • Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing (face-shield, gloves, respirators, etc.)
  • Metal preparations, remove discontinuities or defects prior to any repairs made by welding
  • Upon completion of weld repairs, perform additional grinding and finishing to meet client’s specification
