Composite Technical Consultant to support the US Operations. The Composite Technical Consultant will support and at times lead wind turbine rotor blade inspection, repair and quality assurance campaigns throughout the life cycle of Wind turbine project.

Responsibilities

  • Provide field and office technical support to the engineering and technical services team
  • Perform field and factory Inspections on rotor blades at various stages in the life cycle of the wind turbine
  • Support field inspection campaigns from project kick-off through project completion as required
  • Responsible for field and factory process audits in accordance with process requirements and generate technical reports detailing audit findings
  • Facilitate and support Root Cause Analysis (RCA) projects for rotor blade damages and failures and generate technical reports detailing audit findings
  • Perform Field QC support in both 1st Party and 3rd Party Roles and generate technical reports detailing audit findings
  • Assist with in-field Inspector training
  • Provide exceptional customer service with clients and 3rd party contractors as a liaison
  • Ensure compliance with all HS&E requirements for the work being performed
  • Assist with the development of work procedures for inspection and repair
  • Support company continuous improvement practices
  • Other work duties as assigned

Requirements

 

  • B.S. Engineering or Production Engineering, Mechanical Engineering
  • GWO certification preferred
  • 3+ years in wind turbine quality and repair engineering
  • Experience with composite repair and structural construction on wind turbine blades
  • Demonstrated project experience with wind turbine blade repair and technical analysis projects
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Positive attitude and safety-first mindset towards continuous improvement and continuous learning
  • Ability to safely and confidently work at significant heights
  • Successful incumbent will be required to successfully complete all Field Related Safety Training and are subject to Post Offer Employment Testing for the role

Working Conditions

  • Outside environment with continuous physical effort, exposure to 5-7 elements/conditions, moderate mental effort, and occasional requests for assistance.
  • Position requires travel (up to 30%), often for extended periods, and sometimes on short notice

 

Physical Job requirements 7 Demands: 

  • Applicants must demonstrate the ability to:
    • Climb a 100m/330ft vertical ladder, multiple times per day, with up to 15kgs/30lbs of additional weight
    • Bend, kneel, climb and squat with full range of motion and for prolonged periods of time
    • Demonstrated effective hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills
    • Enter and work in enclosed areas for upwards of 4 hours at a time
    • Lift up to 25kgs/50lbs unassisted (on occasion 35kgs/75lbs)
    • Operate hand tools
    • Stand for prolonged periods of time
    • Work around and with composite materials
    • Work in inclement weather conditions
