Acuren Engineering is looking for a Electrical and Controls Engineer to support our operations in Grand Rapids, MI.

 

As an Electrical and Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for representing the firm in interactions with clients, contractors, and other project team members. You will be responsible for designing electrical projects, preparing reports and specifications, and providing a high level of technical service.

Responsibilities

 

  • Assisting with projects in your discipline.
  • Assisting with establishing project budgets and schedules.
  • Establishing design standards, specifications, and criteria for projects.
  • Performing calculations, equipment selection, equipment specification, system design, system layout, field investigation, and construction administration for low and medium voltage systems.
  • Performing site electrical power distribution design.
  • Performing controls engineering and computer-based programming, verification, and testing, especially with:
      • Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
      • Proportional Integral Derivative (PID) Control
      • Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) Groups
      • Human Machine Interface (HMI)
      • Ethernet, serial, and radio communication
  • Working with Designer(s) to producing CAD drawings consistent with client requirements and standards.
  • Participating in QA/QC processes.
  • Maintain detailed time and expense records for billing purposes.
  • Providing additional consulting services, including research, investigations, and preparation of studies and reports.
  • Participating in business development activities, including trade organizations and events.

Requirements

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, with additional Associates Degree or experience in Electronics preferred but not required.
  • Ability and desire to obtain a E.I.T. certification and P.E. license.
  • Familiarity with NEC and NFPA 70 preferred but not required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of job experience, 5 years preferred.
  • Oil and gas industry experience preferred but not required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software.
  • Personal vehicle available for business travel.
  • Available for travel, up to 10%.

Working Conditions

  • Office environment with limited physical effort, continuous mental effort, and frequent complex requests for assistance in and out of a lab environment.
  • Travel may be required.

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS & DEMANDS:

  • Endurance such as sitting, standing, walking, climbing, or driving, and frequency/duration in which action is required.
  • Able to lift and move objects weighing up to 25 lbs., as well as walk 2-6 miles and stand for 4-8 hours in a day, while performing low risk field work
